Since 2012, the Freiburg Contact Improvisation Festival has supported the development of Contact Improvisation and the possibility to deepen the knowledge in specific areas of CI through ground research, practical experiments, exchange and support for researchers in the frame of the event. I applied to the 2018 Festival with the idea of creating a BESTIARY OF LIVING SCORES, as a research creation project. How do we consciously or intentionally enter, play with, and enjoy jams?
When one of us loses the immediacy of presence within the space or has isolated ourselves, what are the specific practices that help us become present, ground ourselves, lose ourselves, stop thinking, stop stopping, begin again? By sharing these personal techniques, we can inspire others to try them on. These are “Ways of knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do.”
